Under Construction: A Carolina Craftsman
Under Construction: A Beautiful New Carolina Craftsman
One of our favorite parts of building custom homes is getting to be part of our clients' next chapter.
Last year, we broke ground on a beautiful new custom home just a few blocks from iconic Main Street in Davidson, NC. When finished in the fall of 2026, it will become home to a family moving from the Midwest. After visiting Davidson over the years, they fell in love with the walkable downtown, friendly community, and slower pace of life, and decided they were ready for everything the North Carolina lifestyle offers.
And honestly, we can't blame them.
Carolina Craftsman Style, Built for Davidson
From the very beginning, the vision for this home was a timeless Carolina Craftsman design that feels right at home in one of Davidson's most charming neighborhoods. With its welcoming front porch, clean lines, natural materials, and thoughtful architectural details, this home blends classic Southern character with modern luxury.
Spanning more than 4,000 square feet across three levels, the home immediately makes an impression with its full-width front porch—an inviting space that's perfect for morning coffee, visiting with neighbors, or relaxing at the end of the day. Brick column bases, classic white columns, and a stained wood ceiling give the porch warmth and craftsmanship while staying true to the Carolina Craftsman style.
The exterior is finished in Sherwin-Williams Pure White, creating a crisp, timeless look that's complemented by the dark metal porch roof, warm wood accents, and traditional brickwork. It's a home that feels fresh today but will look just as beautiful decades from now.
The Heart of the Home
Step inside, and everything revolves around one inviting, open living area.
The kitchen, dining room, and family room all flow together, creating a space perfect for everyday life as well as entertaining. Whether hosting Thanksgiving dinner, having neighbors over for a casual evening, or simply spending time together after a long day, this layout was designed for the way people actually live.
The family room features beautiful coffered ceilings and a gas fireplace that adds warmth, character, and a cozy focal point. Just off the main living space, the covered back porch extends the living area outdoors, making it easy to enjoy North Carolina's beautiful weather almost year-round.
A Kitchen That's Made to Be Used
The kitchen is easily one of the highlights of this home.
Custom white shaker cabinetry gives the space a timeless feel, while a huge Santorini polished quartzite island provides plenty of room for cooking, gathering, and entertaining. A full suite of Thermador appliances rounds out the space with the performance and quality you'd expect in a luxury custom home.
One feature we especially love is the tucked-away scullery just behind the kitchen. Complete with additional custom cabinetry and matching quartzite countertops, it gives the homeowners extra prep space, storage, and a place to keep everything organized while the main kitchen stays clean and ready for guests.
Timeless Finishes with a Little Personality
One thing we love about custom homes is finding the perfect balance between timeless design and personal style.
Throughout the main living spaces, the finishes lean classic, including beautiful tile selections that will stand the test of time. But every home deserves a few unexpected moments, and one of our favorites is the powder room just off the side entry. Here, a colorful mosaic tile brings a fun pop of personality that guests are sure to remember.
Running throughout the home are 7½-inch wide white oak floors finished in the warm Honesuckle color with a super-matte finish. The natural wood adds warmth while creating a clean, understated backdrop for the home's bright and airy interior.
Designed for the Way They Live
The lower level adds even more flexible living space, featuring a dedicated home office, a full bathroom, a spacious recreation room complete with a built-in bar, and a private exercise room with durable rubber flooring.
Behind the house, a detached two-car garage includes a private guest suite with its own full bathroom above. It's the perfect setup for welcoming family and friends who will no doubt be making the trip from the Midwest to visit their new North Carolina home.
From the welcoming front porch to the open gathering spaces and private guest accommodations, every detail was planned to help this family enjoy the next season of life together.
We Can't Wait to Share the Finished Home
We're honored this family chose Holliday Homes to build the place where they'll begin this exciting new chapter. A home isn't just where you live—it's where memories are made, traditions begin, and family comes together.
We'll be sharing professional photos once the home is complete in the fall of 2026, so be sure to check back and see how this beautiful Davidson custom home turns out!
